Patrick Booth - Hot Rocker Cub!

Patrick Booth - Main PicSince the second I stumbled across this guy, I’ve been totally infatuated. He ’s a Texan. 27 years old, sexy, smart and talented! Did I mention hot?! But back to the talented part. Patrick is an unpretentious star in the making. As an out, gay rocker with two CD releases under his belt, the very foundation of the music industry should quake a bit. I did. There goes that hot thing again. Damn.

BCC: What’s your name?

PATRICK: Patrick Boothe.

BCC: Is that a “stage name” or the real deal?

PATRICK: That’s both my stage name and the real deal.. Went thru ideas for an alias but nothing quite fit as well as the “real deal”.

BCC: Where are you from?

PATRICK: Bedford, Texas: Between Dallas and Fort Worth; Live in Irving, Texas now.

BCC: What ethnic heritage do you identify with?

PATRICK: I’m a quarter Italian so I guess that’s the closest thing that’s not as generic as “Caucasian”

BCC: Big family?

PATRICK: Immediate? Not really… Extended? Somewhat.

BCC: What did you want to be when you were a kid?

PATRICK: A singer/performer. It’s all iI’ve really ever wanted to be.

BCC: You’re obviously out to the world. When did you take the big step?

PATRICK: To my friends when I was 17, to my family right before I turned 19.

BCC: How do you identify with the bear community?

PATRICK: I don’t feel like an outcast. I’m always vying to feel a part of something; the bear community has been the most welcoming (aside from the guys who just wanna get me in bed).

BCC: Are you taken?

PATRICK: Not in the slightest.

BCC: Prospects?

PATRICK: So many… I’m ridiculously shy so I may tend to beat around the bush; and I have a thing for “unavailable” men too.. emotionally unavailable men…trying to get to the bottom of that…

BCC: What do you find attractive in a guy?

PATRICK: Hirsute and a nice chest is a plus, but someone who I respect and admire (and love looking at without clothes) really are the things that keep me coming back.

BCC: Do you see a future with partner, kids and a big back yard?

PATRICK: I hope to one day. It’s hard to see what you’ve never thought you could have but I do want to have at least one kid, and I’d rather not do that alone.

BCC: If the state of our country today was a fairy tale scenario, what would it be?

PATRICK: Maybe the three little pigs… because we’re all just trying to live peacefully in our houses and the big bad wolf keeps trying to blow them all down! (coincidentally, for halloween this year, I was the big bad wolf and three of my friends were the little pigs).

BCC: I see you’ve had a commercial release of your music. How’s all that going?

PATRICK: Well… I’ve gotten great feedback and reviews on it, I’m so proud of my latest album, and I’ll continue to release music as long as possible, but it’s hard to do by yourself, and I certainly haven’t made any money off of it. It’s still a labor of love.

BCC: What does creating music mean to you?

PATRICK: It keeps me alive. It’s the string that my life hangs by. It’s the only way that I can show the world what’s truly in my head. It’s the only thing in the world I’m proud of about myself regarding my lifes accomplishments.

BCC: Where did you get your start?

PATRICK: I’ve tried to pay attention to popular music for as early as I could. I’ve been singing ever since I could talk and I started taking the piano/keys more seriously since about 15. I’ve had albums rolling around in my head since I was 5 but was finally able to record and release my first one at 23.

BCC: Who are your influences?

PATRICK: Tori Amos changed my world. She changed everything I knew about music and really showed me a piece of a path I should be taking; Not exactly HER path, but her honesty and brutality was something I felt less ashamed about exploring in my own life after hearing her confessional songs. Nine Inch Nails and Paula Cole showed me the beauty of being a little ugly in music (Favorite LP of all time: Paula Cole’s This Fire). Ben Folds really influenced my songwriting (the more poppy side of it). Fiona Apples feminine-masculine vocal range really influenced mine.

BCC: How do you define yourself as an artist?

PATRICK: A little disturbed but grounded. A slice of reality for a fantastical society. A man with a message that needs to be heard.

BCC: Where can guys buy your music??

PATRICK: My latest CD “Finally The View Has Changed” can be purchased online at www.cdbaby.com or downloaded through iTunes and many other MP3 sites. My first cd “Dub Escape” can only be purchased through me at my live shows.

BCC: What’s the future hold for Patrick Boothe the recording artist?

PATRICK: Early next year, a digital EP called “Jump In” of 6 or 7 songs and maybe two alternate versions of songs from “Finally…”; Late 2008 or maybe even 2009 I hope to release my next full length album, which will be called “Cut Sleeve”. I’m hoping by 2010 to have out album #4, which I already have most songs for and a title, but I can’t release that until the next one comes into full fruition. I really want to expand outside of being a solo artist and would love to be in a a more punk/metal leaning band.

BCC: So…if I come to a concert, do I get a backstage pass? Come on…what do you say?

PBoothBlackPic2

PATRICK: You can have a backSEAT pass.   ;-)

Freestyle: I look forward to a time where I can write love songs and make happy music. It would be nice to be able to sincerely create something a little less self-centered and more geared to a “positive” message…but this, what I’m doing, is what I feel I HAVE to do at this point in my life.

BCC: I love your sound. You’re unique and, well….hot! Good luck and thanks for putting some extra shine on our tribe!

PATRICK: Hey thanks! And thank you for putting together this website and including me in it. I’m honored!
